Indeed. I think a lot of these people have not played yet to discover first hand how they behave.

It shouldn't take close to 5 minutes to finish off a single mob with henchmen simply because all the monsters do is run around because they're taking any damage at all. They've got better kiting abilities than most rank 9 monks.

hmmm question to all the players who hate the update. If you are in a 8 men group and you almost die, what do you do, stand still or run the hell out of there. i guess you run, because standing still and knowing you will die is just stupid. Well if you agree to that, then you must admit that the AI of foes was stupid to. Now the are a bit smarter because foes know how to save their @ss. They just made it a bit harder for us

I also have a SS necro, 55 monk, 600 monk and i played a lot of duo uw runs to get my fow armor (3 times) but there is a lot more then Aatxes and smites in UW. But i guess you will find that out now, since you will get more 8 men groups in uw now. Just like FOW.

I just tried a full 8 Player UW Team. Good players as well.

It was pure and utter downright chaos, annoying to the least. Everyone was running around like chickens. Frustrating enough to make everyone of us just stop doing UW after a while whereas we have easily cleared it before.

Sometimes the enemies do downright nothing. They just stand there. The next second they completely ignore everyone except for that monk who is standing two aggro circles away. It's not new and fresh if it causes frustration plus it puts up an age old issue back onto the table. Nuking in GuildWars sucks. Downright. And nerfing it again and again won't help it for some reason. Yes, yes... that takes me totally by surprise. Nerfing the almost dead AOE won't revive it. Yes a total miracle.

/edit:
It is not harder. It is annoying.
Constantly running around, gosh thats crappy. If i want to run in circles i go to Random Arena. But now there is a runner in every instance, in every mob and you have to chase him. Fun. Fun. Fun.
Those that LIKE the update, have you ever played with strategy? Have you even tried it out and seen how much of a Chicken Wars it has turned into? Thought so that you didn't.

Shift and Adapt. My favorite character is my SS necro. Therefore I'm a bit dissapointed...however, there will always be a way to work around AI. I tried using my SS necro and it's still not that bad.

The enemies seem to run around all the time no matter what, making killing them a lot more annoying and time-consuming. I tried to pull of a vermin run and it took me ages, since the enemies weren't harder, but they scattered with every Cyclone axe and Triple chop. Sometimes they ran around, sometimes just took a breather doing nothing.

And isn't every Dervish attack with the scythe AoE damage? Sure will be fun playing when every strike makes the enemies run around... not to mention the enchantment removals from spells.

Here's hoping they will fine-tune the system and not leave it like this.

Actually, I did just that. It took a long time but three of my girls have 15K (well, one has 'retired' from play who had 15K bonelace) - the only ones I currently want to wear it - and several of them have 'perfect' weapons, all obtained the old fashioned way of completing missions, saving gold and staying the course. I.e. the only 'farming' was done in the Ascalon map for crafting materials in the beginning!

I'm all for anything that makes the vanity armor (15k and FoW) back into an achievement, not the result of being run everywhere wtih gold from eBay. (Not dissing ppl who have six characters who are simply bored with gold to spare.)

Well nothing new there. Take Factions for example: assassins were introduced as well as massive drawn out battles and the exploding afflicted. So it kinda fits the bill that dervishes would cause the dance macabre with each and every swing.

Anyways the AoE update is just silly. Come on what's so special about AoE? Those monsters should run from all forms of damage- even degen and empathy. That's how I would do. I wonder what they do with shameful fear? Assassin nukers anyone?

First off, I want to establish that when the update first came, about 9 hours ago, me and everyone in my guild were estatic. A lot of the things we wanted were included and I was hard pressed to find something wrong with the update.

Then a guildie said his Rago's was missing it's mods. Which it was, and that's a bug that's being addressed as we speak (to my knowledge). Then I found they nerfed Spirit Bond (It's a minor nerf, but it makes energy upkeep almost impossible, I tried). I wasn't happy, but I figured "Eh, whatever. One or two bad things. I still love ya, ANet." Then I saw this. Then I saw my SoJ scattering aggro. Then I saw SS scattering aggro. I started getting worried, because farming is what keeps me interested in the game after I've beaten a campaign. I had a friend try the A/E Silver Armor solo, and that scatters too. I have heard the rumors that this is a bug and not intentional. If so, I will patiently await a fix and applaud ANet for a job well done when they do.

However, if this is intentional, people lose a lot of ways to make money. Maybe gold farming is a grind, but it's important to note that when GW came out, the "grind" was related to gaining levels/advancing through the game/essential tasks, etc. Not gaining money for enjoyment. If I want to farm for an hour and spend my hard earned gold on a new helmet or rune or what have you, I should be able to.

The "nerf" or "change" also affects the non-farmers. Spiteful Spirit now becomes fairly useless, which a skill shouldn't be. PvE is all about aggro management. Making the enemies scatter and target your backline squishies means instant pressure on your monks and the reduced effectiveness of those being attacked.

I don't like this update to AoE. I'm not whining and saying "WTF ANERF NOOBS" but I really don't think this change has a positive effect, and I really hope it's a genuine bug in the AI for my sake, otherwise I may not have enough to do to keep playing after I finish Nightfall (Pre-order, although I have no wish to cancel anyway).

How you stop runners in PvP? Yes......do same in PvE.

Maybe the running is a bit overdone but good to see that snares have now some use in PvE too.

It's funny, with all the whining from people I expected a standard PvE group to be a disaster.

I went to FoW in the standard 5 man team just now, and it was the best damn FoW ever. Everything attacked the tank, and for the full duration of the fight, continued to attack the tank without fleeing or even turning slightly, until they were dead. I was the bonder, and had everyone bonded, but I really didn't need to because nobody except the tank ever took any damage!

Even with the heal monk (who didn't look very experienced) going very close to enemies, and the ele also running up close, they only attacked the tank. For FoW this is very rare.

It was one of the easiest and fastest runs ever, because nobody was ever in danger, nobody had to kite, and the mobs all clumped up around the tank while dying from SS and Meteor Shower, Inc Bonds, Fireballs etc. In fact, it was boring. It was like the book trick all over again.

So basically, has anyone actually tried using SS outside of solo/duo farming? (omg wtf you can play guild wars without farming?) The mobs didn't run once. Or was my group just incredibly lucky? Or we did something different? Don't know what...

Now..All we need is an AI update that causes monsters that are low health to run away to other groups to heal and/or regroup.

Then I'll take the difficulty of pve seriously.

Strange how Warrior skills aren't really affected by these updates (except for the better), all the area of effect skills mostly (except for a few warriorskills) effect the caster type chars.

Well we don't want to miff off the wammo's do we Anet......ahem.....
